Thermal Camera For Home Inspections
- Are you looking for a thermal imaging camera to use for home inspections?
- Are you looking to offer thermal imaging as a professional service?
If yes to the above questions ideally you would be looking for a thermal imaging camera with a minimum of 40000 pixels and variable focus to cope with the higher demands made by distance related thermography used in building inspections. The UKTA does have a code of conduct suggesting 320×240 resolution however there are on-going discussions suggesting that the same results can be achieved using lower resolution but at less of a distance. The theory is that the same pixel will cover the same amount of building envelope if distance is reduced for a lower resolution camera.
To be sympathetic to professionalism if you’re choice is budget related then try and keep to above 40000 pixels, if not so much then try to get into the 320×240. This would indicate two immediate cameras, the E50bx which is 240×180 or the E60bx which is 320×240. If you can lean towards the E60 then the simple choice would be to go the extra mile and get a T420bx. A brilliant little unit and more than capable in the professional world of thermography.
Additionally to your choice of camera, have you thought about reporting software and procedures as there is choice in this area too?
