Periodic Testing And Inspection
Why it’s important
As well as Complying with safety regulations there is a legal requirement that owners/ operators of electrical installations and equipment must comply with. Regulation 4(2) of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires that:
“As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent so far as reasonably practicable, such danger.”
It is now a mandatory requirement that all electrical installations are tested at regular intervals and carry a current electrical inspection certificate.
This involves carrying out visual inspections and detailed tests of every individual circuit, to verify that it has been installed properly and it is free of damage. Due to these requirements periodic thermal imaging testing and inspection is often rolled out within predictive maintenance programs.
